"Allah will raise up the believers among you and those who have been given some degree of knowledge. And Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do. "(QS Al-Mujaadilah: 11).
Do not ever seek knowledge with intent to boast, boast, argue, compete, and defeat others (to speak), or to make people admire you.
Most Great God who with His knowledge has made the universe and its creation created. How he created everything he wanted was enough to be; "Kun fayakun!"
Any human being, he is so small in front of God. His science is only a small drop of the ocean of science that God has. Allah SWT says, "And if the trees were made of a pen and sea (made) ink, plus seven seas (again) after it (dry), Allah will not end the sentence (science and wisdom). Indeed, Allah is Mighty, Wise. "(QS Lukman: 27)
Therefore, it would not be appropriate if a person becomes anxious and obscure, because of the knowledge he possesses. Of course, the higher the knowledge, the greater the fear and fear of God.
Someone becomes anesthetized, riya, and obsessed with his knowledge, especially when used to make damage and harm on the face of the earth, nothing else because his knowledge does not contain the wisdom and benefits. So it is quick if the Messenger of Allah begged, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the knowledge that is not useful."
Then what kind of knowledge is useful? One day God Almighty gave a revelation to David, "O David, learn by your useful knowledge."
"Yes, God, is that useful science?" David asked. "It is the knowledge that seeks to know the majesty, the majesty, the greatness, and the perfection of my power over everything. This is what brings you closer to Me. "
In a hadith narrated by Ar-Rabi'i, Rasulullah SAW said, "Seek knowledge. Indeed learning is a self-approach to Allah Azza wa Jalla, while teaching it to people who do not know it is charity. In fact, science places its people in honorable and noble positions. Science is the beauty of its members in the world and hereafter. "
It turns out that knowledge is a science that causes us to become acquainted with and closer to Allah SWT. Any science, if it can make us closer and more admire of His greatness, is that useful science.
Knowledge that can be a path to God will make one be tawadhu and humble in front of others. Like the paddy, the more it becomes drowning. So the more the science grows, the more pure the heart is from the blame. It will be preserved from the attitude of ujub, riya, obsessed, envy, and despising others.
With that knowledge, it will be the way for the greatest benefit and benefit of all. Its existence is like light of light in darkness. Be a guide for people who lost their way. People around him will feel calm and serene in his presence. God himself has promised in the Koran, "Allah will raise up the believers among you and those who have been given some degree of knowledge. And Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do. "(QS Al-Mujaadilah: 11).
How can we get that useful science? First and foremost is sincerity when looking for it. In the book of Bidayatul Hidayah, Imam Al-Ghazali wrote, "O Allah's servant who diligently seek knowledge. If you are studying science, then please sincerely because of Allah alone. In addition, it is also with the intention of carrying out obligations for prosecuting the law, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, "It is compulsory for every male and female Muslim." (HR. Ibn Abdul Barr).
Do not ever seek knowledge with intent to boast, arrogant, argue, compete, and defeat others (to speak), or to let people admire you. Do not seek knowledge as a means of accumulating worldly wealth. That will damage your religion and easily destroy yourself.
The noble Prophet forbids such a thing with his saying, "Whoever seeks knowledge that is usually intended to seek the pleasure of Allah, suddenly he does not study it, except only to obtain the worldly possessions, he will not get the aroma of heaven on the Day of Resurrection." HR. Abu Dawud).
In another hadith, he said, "Do not you demand knowledge to boast of the scholars and to be debated among the ignorant and bad-tempered. Do not ask for your appearance in the assembly and to attract people to you. Whoever is like that, then he is hell. "(Narrated by Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah).
"A pious when you want to know the pleasure of God, then it will be feared for everything. However, if he intends to accumulate wealth, then he will be afraid of everything, "said the Prophet Muhammad in another narration (HR Ad-Dailami).
We have to use this very short time to seek knowledge that is beneficial to our religion and to ourselves and our environment. Once again, useful knowledge is knowledge that can increase our piety and our introduction to Allah SWT.
Science can increase our ability to see defects and self-defiance. Knowledge that can diminish our madness in the world, and add to our love for the eternal home of the Hereafter. Also, science can open our eyes and hearts to everything that can destroy our worship. Wallahu a'lam bish-showab. (By: KH Abdullah Gymnastiar)
