"If the inhabitants of the countries of faith and devotion surely We will bestow upon them blessings from heaven and earth, but they deny (Our verses), then We torture them because of their deeds." (Surat al-A'raaf: 96 )
Why a lot of money, a big house, a beautiful wife or a handsome husband, extensive knowledge does not elevate the degree of the owner? Even humiliating it? It is not happiness or peace that is obtained, but rather a problem and disaster. What is the reason?
Actually the reason is very simple, namely that all of them are not blessed. We shouldn't be happy enough to have something. But what we should be more happy about is blessing everything. So it is not afraid not to have something, but must be more afraid that something that is already owned does not bring blessings.
We see, for example, that a household is full of quarrels, in fact it must be suspected that the procedure, science and ethics in navigating the household world do not match what God has suggested. So, we must be very afraid of life that is not blessing. That is, that does not benefit the world, nor is it beneficial for the Hereafter.
Start being careful with money. How can money be a blessing? Like a glass. Glass can only be used to drink good if we clean the glass first. Never try to be dishonest. What for? Honest or dishonest God still gives.
Sustenance of the villain comes from God, the fortune of honest people also comes from God. The difference is that the provision given to criminals is unlawful, not a blessing, a step given to an honest person is a blessing. Because actually even though it's a criminal, if God doesn't give, he never gets the results. Many thieves failed, corruptors failed. All because of God's will.
After we are honest, be careful not to get the rights of others who have been seized or not yet fulfilled, let alone the rights of the ummah. Na'udzubillahi min dzalik.
Once upon a time, Umar bin Abdul Aziz, when he was working on state duties at night at his house, suddenly his son knocked on the door of the room. Then he opened the door and turned off the lights in the room.
The child then asked, "Why do you turn off the lights, huh?"
Then he replied, "Because the oil in this lamp belongs to the state. It is not appropriate for us to discuss family affairs using State facilities."
That's how Umar was, very careful because he hoped his life would be blessed and blessed by Allah SWT.
The stories told above contain various lessons that we can emulate. Using office and authority that bring blessings is nothing but to exclude personal interests and pleasures above the rights and pleasures of Allah.
Abundant wealth that we possess, which brings blessings, nothing but clean property, fulfilled its obligations, both the rights of others and the rights of the ummah.
God knows how to answer. (*)
