M. Tunggal Widodo - MEC Alumni who are Now Independent with Printing Business
Being an entrepreneur or entrepreneur is the dream of this orphan named M. Tunggal Widodo since childhood. The man who is familiarly called Tunggal, finally slowly can reach his dream when he knows the Mandiri Entrepreneur Center (MEC). A head of the institution where he studied, recommended that he try to register for MEC. "At that time a lot of friends ended up going to college. I tried to MEC. "Before I tried to find out what MEC was first," he recalls.
In 2010, Tunggal successfully passed the selection and entered the MEC which was then in Malang, East Java. A single from Balikpapan, must adapt to students from various regions in Indonesia. "Thank God, I can adapt easily. And by studying in the land of Java, I became more competitive. At MEC we are helped by various resources and encourage us to be more creative," he explained.
Although he was born in Blitar, Tunggal and his parents lived long in Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan. While at MEC, Tunggal, who likes to draw, can channel his passion through graphic design majors. Since elementary school, Tunggal has been known to have good taste in pictures and colors. However, when he entered high school, this hobby had stalled because he was more focused on building relationships through the organization.
From MEC, Tunggal learned many things. One of them is entrepreneurship that he has never been before. "When I found out about MEC, the thing that attracted me was the entrepreneurship lesson. Not all campuses teach that," he said.
The single who had once wished to become an office worker, finally established himself as an entrepreneur. "In the past, he imagined that office work was cool. Wear a tie, neat clothes. But becoming an entrepreneur is cooler," added the graduate of the 7th MEC.
When graduating in 2011, Tunggal returned to Balikpapan. At that time, he began to build a business that was still related to the world of images and graphic design. Printing is the choice. At the beginning of its business, Tunggal focused on identity card printing or often called an id card.
The moment coincided with the season of regional head elections. Single invited by a friend to use that moment to lure customers. From there many customers can get candidates. "At that time printing in Samarinda and Balikpapan was still very rare. Moreover, the one that serves printing id cards. Even though there are very many schools, government offices and companies here," said the man born in 1991.
That's where the Print Center Id was born. "Name Id is not an abbreviation of Indonesia. But because we first served printing id cards," he recalls.
Print Center ID already has thousands of customers. Even many repeat orders. Fast and precise service makes customers satisfied. From there Print Center ID can develop its products more varied. Until now there are 42 products that can be printed there. Starting from key chains, placards, pins, mugs, to report cards. "Most orders are also from student cards, because there are quite a lot of schools here," he added.
Now, Tunggal can already employ four employees. Because there are quite a lot of assisted employees, Tunggal can be more maximal in serving customers. Even in his spare time, Tunggal continued to open this printing service. "Sometimes I open until evening. Just in case there are people who need sudden printing. I serve myself at night," he said.
After more than seven years running, Print Center ID already has its own office. However, for printing in large media such as banners and banners, Print Center ID is assisted by 5 vendors from the surrounding area. "So the production process is faster," Tunggal added.
Tunggal also felt many benefits after he had this printing business. Himself who used to choose to postpone college, can now carry out education at Mulawarman University. Single choose to study computer science. "Thank God, the decision to postpone college was right. Now I can have a business but still do not leave education. As long as there is a chance," he said.
